Meet FAQs
What time does the meet start and when should I arrive?
Swim meet competition begins at 6pm. Each team has warm up before competition begins - it is recommended that EVERY swimmer attends warm up! We recommend you plan to arrive at the pool 15 minutes before your warm up time. This will give you time to park, find a seat, write your events on your arm (see below), and be on time for warm ups!
Home Meets - Warm ups start at 5pm. Please arrive by 4:45
Away Meets - Warm ups start at 5:30pm. Please arrive by 5:15pm
My child is in a Medley Relay. What does that mean?
Both the free and medley relay are a chance for 4 swimmers to race together against the other team. For the 100 free relays (10 & unders), each swimmer will race one lap, and for the 200 free relays (11 & up), each swimmer will race one lap. The order of the medley relay is Backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle. For the 10 & unders, the 2nd and 4th swimmer (breaststroke & freestyle), will start in the shallow end of the pool and may need to do a sit start (no jumping or diving).
My swimmers event is coming up. Where do we go?
At least two events before the scheduled start, swimmers only should report to the deep end of the pool. All coaches will be in the deep end and will ensure your child(ren) start their race on time. For 6 & unders, one designated parent can bring a group of children to the coaches in the deep end :)
Are folding chairs allowed?
At most facilities (including ours), folding chairs are allowed. Any special instructions will be provided in the pre-meet email.
Instructions for writing events on swimmer’s arm or leg:
You can use the entries by athlete sheet to identify what & when your child(ren) will be swimming. Please use a sharpie to write the event, heat, lane, and event for each swimmer on their arm or leg --- this can help the volunteers and coaches get your swimmer in the right heat/lane behind the blocks quickly.
I will use Estelle Cole (16) as an example:
Under her name you will find her events. Her first event is #9 which is 100 free. She will swim in Heat 1, Lane 4. The H1/L4 next to her events is her heat first, lane second. Her second race is #21 which is the 200 yd Medley Relay. Relays are when 4 members of the team swim one after the other in a particular order. For the relay, Estelle will swim with her friends in heat 1, lane 2, and she will be swimming 3rd, which is butterfly. Continue to do this for all your swimmer’s events.
The “E” is the event #, the “H” is the heat, the “L” is the lane and finally a description of the event
