Hello Penhurst Families!

We're off to a great start! Thank you to all of our swimmers, coaches, volunteers, and families who helped make our first meet a success. With Meet #2 just around the corner, here are a few important updates and reminders for the week ahead.

Afternoon Practices Begin This Week

Afternoon practices begin this week for swimmers who specifically registered for the afternoon practice option in lieu of morning practices. These practices are held on Mondays and Wednesdays. Families enrolled in afternoon practices should have received a separate email with their swimmer's assigned practice time.

Meet Theme: Favorite Sports Team!

Pool Address: 2842 Gant Quarters Drive Marietta, GA 30068

Show your team spirit and come dressed in your favorite sports team's gear. Swimmers, siblings, and parents are all encouraged to participate! Coach Zack will send the heat sheet on Tuesday once all entries have been merged with the host team. Concessions include BBQ, Cowboy beans, hot dogs, hamburgers, water, Gatorade, sodas and sweets. They accept cash, cards and square payments. Important Reminder: Please write your swimmer's events on their arm before arriving at the pool. There is a parking lot with limited spaces. Overflow parking will be on one side of the neighborhood streets.

Warmups: 5:30 p.m.

Start: 6:00 p.m.

Looking Ahead: Patti Wilder State Qualifying Meet

It's never too early to start thinking about the Patti Wilder State Qualifying Meet, the championship meet for all 50 plus Cobb County Summer Swim League teams! This is where swimmers from all Cobb County Summer Swim League teams come together to compete for the county championship. We're especially excited because Penhurst is the reigning County Champion! We would love to have as many Predators as possible join us this year as we defend our title. The coaches are so pumped for this meet!!

This year's meet will be held at Mountain View Aquatic Center near Lassiter High School. The meet is spread across three days, with age groups competing on different days:

• Friday, June 26 – Ages 13-14 and 15-18
• Saturday, June 27 – Ages 9-10 and 11-12
• Sunday, June 28 – Ages 5-6 and 7-8

For swimmers ages 9-18, the meet includes morning preliminaries and afternoon finals. The Top 20 from prelims come back the same day for finals in the afternoon. Swimmers ages 5-8 compete in timed finals only on Sunday morning.

One of the exciting aspects of the championship meet is that the top 20 finishers in each event earn points for their team. Every point matters as teams compete for the county title!

As a bonus, the top three finishers in each individual event will qualify for the GRPA State Championship Meet. The Patti Wilder Meet serves as the State Qualifying Meet for our league. Additional information regarding the GRPA State Championship Meet will be shared once it becomes available. I have attached a PDF from the Cobb County Swim League that provides additional information about the meet, including how championship scoring works.

You can declare your swimmer for the Patti Wilder Meet NOW! Simply log in to the team website and select the Patti Wilder State Qualifying Meet under the meet sign-up section. Early declarations help us with planning, so please sign up as soon as possible. If you have any questions about the Patti Wilder Meet, please feel free to reach out to Coach Zack or the Coordinators. Please note that individual swimmer events are $7 each and $3.75 for each relay. These fees are established by the Cobb County Swim League to cover the meet costs. 

Swimmer shirts and caps
Coordinators will be around during practice this week (including afternoon practices). If you were unable to get your gear, we’ll be there to distribute. We are short on caps, but we have ordered more. Thanks for your patience.
