Hello Penhurst Families!

It’s hard to believe we are already heading into the final stretch of the summer swim season, with just three weeks remaining! Tonight marks our last away meet of the season as we take on Jackson’s Creek. After tonight, we’ll finish the season with our final two meets at home.

Coach Zack will be sending out the heat sheets today. We still have several volunteer positions that need to be filled for tonight’s meet. Please take a look at the attached job sign-up and consider helping out if you haven’t had a chance yet this season. We are incredibly grateful for all of our volunteers. We'd love to get some new faces involved, as many of the same parents have been generously stepping up week after week.

We also wanted to remind everyone about the Patti Wilder State Qualifying Meet, which was mentioned in last week’s update. This is a great opportunity for swimmers of all ages and abilities, and we would love to see a strong Penhurst presence at the meet. Additional information is included below, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Away Meet Today vs. Jackson’s Creek

Pool Address: 5522 Timber Ridge Road, Marietta, GA 30068

Parking & Seating: Parking at Jacksons Creek is limited. Please use the upper tennis court lot, along East Bank Drive, or along Jacksons Creek Bluff. Be sure not to block driveways and park on only one side of the street. The lot between the tennis courts and pool will be closed to vehicle traffic and used for spectator seating. Additional spectator seating will be available in the grassy fenced area above the pool deck. Please note that there will be no spectator seating on the pool deck. Please see the attached map for details.

Safety Reminder: The spillway next to the pool will be roped off and marked with caution tape and warning signs. Please help us keep all swimmers and siblings safe by ensuring children do not play on or near the spillway area.

Concessions: JAWS will have a full concessions stand available, including pizza, pulled pork sandwiches, mac & cheese bowls, pasta salad, chips, candy, snow cones, and drinks. Both cash and credit cards will be accepted. Concessions will be located at the clubhouse behind the pool. Complimentary bottled water will be available on the pool deck for all volunteers.

Warmups: 5:30 p.m.

• Fun Swim: 10:00–11:00 a.m.
• Afternoon practices for registered swimmers

Thursday & Friday

• Morning practice as scheduled. Chattahoochee Gold Clinic on Thursday during 7-8’s and 9-10’s.

Patti Wilder State Qualifying Meet

This is the championship meet for all 50 plus Cobb County Summer Swim League teams! We're especially excited because Penhurst is the reigning County Champion! We would love to have as many Predators as possible join us this year as we defend our title. The coaches are so pumped for this meet!!

This year's meet will be held at Mountain View Aquatic Center near Lassiter High School. The meet is spread across three days, with age groups competing on different days:

• Friday, June 26 – Ages 13-14 and 15-18
• Saturday, June 27 – Ages 9-10 and 11-12
• Sunday, June 28 – Ages 5-6 and 7-8

For swimmers ages 9-18, the meet includes morning preliminaries and afternoon finals. The Top 20 from prelims come back the same day for finals in the afternoon. Swimmers ages 5-8 compete in timed finals only on Sunday morning.

One of the exciting aspects of the championship meet is that the top 20 finishers in each event earn points for their team. Every point matters as teams compete for the county championship, and swimmers of all ability levels can contribute to our team's success!

As a bonus, the top three finishers in each individual event will qualify for the GRPA State Championship Meet. The Patti Wilder Meet serves as the State Qualifying Meet for our league. Additional information regarding the GRPA State Championship Meet will be shared once it becomes available.

Declare your swimmer for the Patti Wilder Meet by Thursday, June 11th! Simply log in to the team website and select the Patti Wilder State Qualifying Meet under the meet sign-up section to let us know if you will attend or not.
